What does C.Y.O.A. mean?
C.Y.O.A. means Choose Your Own Adventure.
Choose Your Own Adventure lets you, the reader, make choices that change what happens next. Instead of reading straight through, you decide what the characters do, and your choices lead to different endings.
For Example:
You are reading a story, and in the story you read this:
“You hear a strange noise in the forest."
"Do you go toward the sound?" (Click here → to go towards the sound)
Or
"Do you run back to camp?" (Click here → to go back to camp)”

Written for a Halloween school project by Lilly T., who is a grade 8 student.
How to Make a Choose Your Own Adventure (C.Y.O.A.) Story
Start with a Main Idea
Think of a fun story. It could be about a mystery, a trip, a fantasy world, or a challenge. Example: You are lost in the forest and must find your way home.
Create a Starting Point
Write the beginning of the story. This is where the reader learns what is happening . Example: You wake up in a dark forest. You hear a sound nearby.
Give Choices
After each part of the story, give the reader two or more choices.
Example:
Follow the sound → Go to Slide 5
Stay where you are → Go to Slide 6
Write Different Paths
Each choice should lead to a new part of the story. Keep writing what happens next for each path.
Example:
If you follow the sound, you find a cabin.
If you stay, you meet a talking animal.
Create Endings
Make different endings based on the choices. Some can be happy, funny, or even surprising !
Example:
You find your way home.
You decide to live in the forest forever.
Use Slides for Each PartIn PowerPoint, make one slide for each part of the story. Add buttons or links to help the reader choose and move to the next slide.
